GENERAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
USE OF UVI PROPERTY
EFFECTIVE DATE: APRIL 23, 1996
SECTION III - NO. 17.00


Purpose

To provide guidelines for the use of University property and equipment.

Applicability

This policy applies to employees in all employment categories.

General Provisions

Employees are entrusted with the use of University equipment and supplies. Under no circumstances should University property be employed for the personal use of any employee without the express permission of the appointing authority. University property and/or equipment may not be loaned or borrowed.

The abuse, misuse or misappropriation of University equipment and supplies can lead to appropriate disciplinary actions.

Loss due to Negligence

It is the responsibility of the employee to provide restitution for any University property which is lost, stolen, or damaged due to negligence on the part of the employee.

University Stationary

Use of University stationery for unofficial purposes can lead to serious consequences. The University reserves the right to treat all letters written on official stationery or mailed at the University's expense as University property.

Keys

Keys issued to an employee are a personal responsibility. Under no circumstances are keys to be duplicated or loaned to anyone else.
