Salary Adjustments - Promotion
EFFECTIVE  DATE: April 23, 1996
SECTION  VII - No.  42.00

PURPOSE

To ensure that employees who are promoted to positions of greater responsibility are appropriately compensated.

APPLICABILITY

GENERAL PROVISIONS

In keeping with the principle that employees will be rewarded in proportion to their contribution to the University, promotional salary increases will be granted upon the assumption of positions involving greater duties and responsibilities.  A promotional salary adjustment must be based on a bona fide change in duties which raises the employee to a higher salary grade.

STEP INCREASES

An  employee who is promoted to a position which is classified at a higher salary grade will be assigned to a step in the new salary grade that results in a pay increase at least equal to a two-step (6%) increase over the employee's previous salary.
