Purpose
To provide employees with
leave benefits under special circumstances at the discretion of
the President.
Eligibility
In general, all regular employees
are eligible for Administrative Leave at the discretion of the
President.
General Provisions
At the discretion of the President,
employees may be granted leave with pay to attend special workshops,
training sessions, or other activities related to the job. Administrative
leave may also be granted to employees for voting purposes, unofficial
holidays, attendance at required Board or Commission meetings, or during
times of general emergencies, such as natural disasters which
affect a large portion of the workforce. The time taken under
these circumstances is not charged to accrued annual leave, sick
leave or compensatory time available to the employee.
Leave for Voting
The University recognizes the
important civic obligation associated with voting. Accordingly,
employees on regular full-time appointments will be granted two
(2) hours of administrative leave for the purpose of voting on election days.
Employees are encouraged to
arrange to vote in the early morning or late afternoon, so that
as little time as possible is taken from the job. Arrangements
and scheduling to take leave for voting must be made in advance with
supervisors so that minimal disruption to offices and services occurs.
