DEPARTMENT:         Virgin Islands University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities

ASSIGNMENT:          The successful candidate will be involved in conducting research in Early Childhood Education, Inclusive Education, Positive Behavior Systems (PBS) and other developmental disabilities related matters.  The candidate will supervise and assist in collection of research data from the Virgin Islands community and in addition, will assist the executive Director in administrative work and writing grants and reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A Master’s degree in Special Education, Disability Studies, Interdisciplinary Education or related field;

• Ability to organize multiple responsibilities, determine priorities and meet established deadlines;

• Ability to exercise discretion, provide excellent service, take initiative and maintain confidentiality;

• Excellent computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets;

• Excellent organizational and communication skills;

• Must be efficient and dependable with the ability to work under pressure

• Possess a high degree of motivation, and the ability to serve a cross-cultural public constituency.

 COMPENSATION:    The salary range for this position is $33,446 to 50,744 for the administrative year, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include the liberal TIAA-CREF or the Virgin Islands Government Retirement Plan, as well as, a comprehensive group medical, dental, and life insurance program.

TRAVEL AND

SHIPPING:                 If applicable, one-way economy jet fare to St. Thomas for appointee and immediate family and an agreed upon amount based on policy for shipping allowance will be paid by the University upon presentation of receipts.
