Research Director – Administrative Staff

St. Thomas Campus

   

DEPARTMENT:                 Nursing - Exploratory Research Center – NIH Grant

 

ASSIGNMENT:              The successful candidate will provide leadership to expand existing research and advocacy work, relating to health disparity, and for using evidence from research to reduce and eliminate health disparities in the Virgin Islands.  The candidate will also direct the activities of the Research Center cores to position the Center of Excellence as a source of high quality research and health disparity information; develop and direct research and survey efforts, and assist in expanding strategic thinking and research capabilities; oversee applicable primary and secondary research in various areas related to health disparities; conduct research and analysis, draft health white papers, and reports to influence health policies and guidelines; provide support and direction for the Center’s Core groups and direct the operational management of the Center

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

§         Doctorate in nursing or a health related field.

§         Excellent skills are required in health research, analysis, proficiency with PC applications and statistical databases (e.g. SPSS<Access, Excel and e-mail survey programs).

§         Demonstrable experience in training and mentoring others.

§         Substantial knowledge of health disparities, business administration, including budgeting, personnel, Federal grants.

§         An established reputation for being analytical and creative.

§         A leader who is a self-starter and a team player.

§         Ability to assume responsibility with minimum supervision.

§         Ability to position the Research Center as a source of high quality research and health disparity information.

 

COMPENSATION:         The salary range for this position is $60,658 to $74,732 for the administrative year depending on experience and qualifications.  Benefits include the liberal TIAA-CREF or the Virgin Islands Government Retirement Plan, and a comprehensive group medical, dental, and life insurance program.

 

TRAVEL AND

SHIPPING:                   If applicable, economy airfare to St. Thomas for appointee and immediate family and shipping allowance of up to $1,250 will be paid by the University upon presentation of receipts.
