JOB TITLE: Librarian II / Information Literacy & Collection Development

JOB CODE NUMBER:  120960

 

DEPARTMENT:         Information & Technology Services

 

ASSIGNMENT:          The successful candidate will work closely with the librarians and managers to implement the principals of a strong University resource collection and be an advocate to maximize the University’s cyber infrastructure to bring electronic research and teaching materials into the forefront of the library's resources.  The candidate will also work very closely with the teaching and research faculty to make sure that library resources are adequate to meet the curriculum and research needs and that students and faculty are trained in the adequate use of the information resources and perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

& REQUIREMENTS:

  • MLS degree from an ALA accredited institution and a minimum of three (3) years working with technology and/or libraries;

  • Knowledge of Integrated Library Systems, preferably Dynix, academic library information literacy instruction, web development skills, online databases for research and training, and assessment and evaluation of information literacy programs;

  • Demonstrated ability in development of diverse resources for instruction including online tutorials;

  • Strong interpersonal, customer orientation, analytical, problem-solving, leadership and verbal and written communication skills;

  • Ability to work under pressure while processing mature judgment and flexibility;

  • Ability to work autonomously and make independent decisions regarding planning, organizing and scheduling of work;

  • Ability to work independently to develop programs and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form;

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as with diverse groups and individuals;

  •  Willingness to work evenings and weekends.

 COMPENSATION:    The salary range for this position is $30,135 to $43,069 for the administrative year depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include the liberal TIAA-CREF or the Virgin Islands Government Retirement Plan, and a comprehensive group medical, dental, and life insurance program.

 

TRAVEL AND

SHIPPING:                 If applicable, one-way economy jet fare to St. Thomas for appointee and immediate family and an agreed upon amount for shipping will be reimbursed upon presentation of receipts.
