The University of the Virgin Islands is a Historically Black publicly supported land-grant institution. The Nursing Division is seeking candidates who will teach 24 credits per academic year in Psychiatric-Mental Health nursing and other basic nursing courses in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program in the following position:

Assistant or Associate Professor of Nursing – Psychiatric/Mental Health:  A Master’s degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing and clinical experience is required.  A Doctorate in Nursing or related field is preferred.  Applicants should possess previous experience in collegiate teaching, familiarity with NLNAC accreditation processes, and the ability to work with a diverse population.  Additional duties involve providing academic advice and counsel to students, participating in program and Division governance activities, participating in program development and activities to assure continued NLNAC Accreditation and other related University and Division assignments.

Employment will begin in August 2008.

Rank and compensation will be based on academic preparation, teaching and practical experience. Benefits include a generous TIAA/CREFF or Virgin Islands Government Retirement Plan, as well as a comprehensive group medical and dental insurance plan.
