The University of the Virgin Islands is a Historically Black publicly supported land-grant institution. In addition, academic programs support our land grant designation by integrating instruction with research and community service. Appointees must be able to work productively with students and colleagues of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

The Nursing Division is seeking candidates who will teach a minimum of 24 credits per academic year at the undergraduate level in fundamentals and maternal-child nursing and other basic nursing courses in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program in the following position:

Assistant or Associate Professor of Nursing – Maternal Child:  A Master’s degree with a specialty in Maternal Child Nursing and clinical experience is required. A Doctorate in Nursing or related field is preferred.  Practical experience in the discipline and familiarity with the NLNAC accreditation processes are preferred.  Applicants should have previous experience in collegiate teaching at the undergraduate level and the ability to work with a diverse student population.  Additional duties involve participating in student advisement; participate in program development and activities to assure continued NLNAC Accreditation; participate in program and Division governance activities; scholarly productivity; and other Division and University related assignments.

Employment will begin on August 2008.

Rank and compensation will be based on academic preparation, teaching and practical experience. Benefits include a generous TIAA/CREFF or Virgin Islands Government Retirement Plan, as well as a comprehensive group medical and dental insurance plan.
