The University of the Virgin Islands is a Historically Black publicly supported land-grant institution. The Science and Mathematics Division is seeking candidates for an Assistant or Associate Professor who will teach 24 credits in graduate and/or undergraduate levels in the following position:

Assistant or Associate Professor of Biology:  A PhD in the Biological Sciences is required.  All areas of biology will be considered, but preference will be given to individuals with expertise in plant biology, ecology, microbiology, or invertebrates.  Significant funding opportunities may be available through the Virgin Islands EPSCoR program, which supports ongoing development of infrastructure in marine science, and is focused on the research area of “Integrated Caribbean Coral Reef Ecosystems” (http://epscor.uvi.edu/).  The successful candidate will have strong commitment to teaching excellence and undergraduate research.  Applicants with experience and interest in general science education are especially encouraged to apply.  Teaching duties may include participation in general science courses, the core biology curriculum and upper level courses in biology or marine biology.  Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level, adaptability and genuine interest in teaching are important assets.

Employment will begin on August 13, 2008.
