DEPARTMENT:

ASSIGNMENT:
Under
general supervision, the successful candidate will maintain
and update the University’s fixed asset management system
while applying fundamental accounting principles and
capitalization policies and procedures; be in charge of the
University’s annual physical inventory and provide clerical
and other support to the Purchasing Office. Responsibilities
also include preparing reports, schedules, and information to
aid in audits as requested by auditors; keeping records of all
surplus and storage equipment in storeroom; inspecting,
verifying, and receiving all packages/deliveries on a daily
basis; making arrangement for delivery of incoming shipments;
processing check requisitions or petty cash vouchers to cover
the cost of shipment; assisting with the data processing of
the entire unit and performing other related duties as
assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
&
REQUIREMENTS:
-
A
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with 3 to 5 years
experience directly related to duties and responsibilities
specified
-
Knowledge
and skill in fixed asset management
-
Ability to
conduct physical inventory of assets
-
Knowledge
of accounting principles, especially capitalization and
depreciation
-
Knowledge
of the University Banner System
-
Skilled in
large ERP software and desktop application software which
includes spreadsheets, word processing, email, etc.
COMPENSATION:
The salary
range for this position is $28,393 to $35,498 for the
administrative year depending on qualifications and
experience. Benefits include the liberal TIAA-CREF or the
Virgin Islands Government Retirement Plan, and a comprehensive
group medical, dental, and life insurance program.
TRAVEL
AND
SHIPPING:
If
applicable, economy jet fare to St. Thomas for appointee and
immediate family and shipping allowance of up to $1,250 will
be paid by the University upon presentation of receipts.
